This is a great place for a stopover en route to the Highlands of Scotland. Really good value.A friendly welcome from Linda. Good breakfast and dinner. Comfortable compact room and shower room with all the necessities-hairdryer, tea/coffee, iron etc. Walking distance to a very good shopping outlet.

3 couples stayed 1 night, perfectly adequate, everything you could need coffee machine + pods provided, tea, coffee + biscuits, hairdryer, body wash, iron + board outside in corridor. Delicious fry up, toast, jam, cereals + juice, not ultra modern but spotlessly clean. Great value.

This Inn or BnB, met all our requirements. It was comfortable, a short walk from the train platform and above all quiet! The staff was friendly and helpful. They even loaned us an adapter since we had somehow lost one in all of our travels.

We broke our journey to holiday on the Isle of Bute after travelling from Kent. We were met by the welcoming owner and made to feel at home. Very comfortable room and bed and an excellent 'full english' breakfast which set us up well refreshed for the rest of our journey.

Friendly welcome, clean and comfortable, ample parking and most importantly a very comfortable bed in a spacious room. Walking distance to everywhere in town.

My wife and I booked this as an overnight stay to break our journey up to Dundee. The room was excellent and straight from the Carpark into our room was a major help as my wife is disabled and has walking difficulties.Very welcoming check in and made to feel welcome. We had a slight problem with the TV and it was looked at immediately and sorted. Comfy bed and a warm room made our stay very comfortable. In the morning we booked breakfast the night before and we were both served with a lovely and hot Scottish breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel and will certainly be using it again in the future. The owners were excellent and attentive to our needs. Thank You.

I was made to feel very welcome at Hunters Lodge Hotel, through the booking process, during my stay, and after, when I received a message to say I had left a travel mug in my room and was able to collect it on my return journey past.I hope to stay again.

We stayed here Fri to sun last weekend, and from the minute we walked in we were greeted with a smile and made welcome, the hotel was spotlessly clean, and the room was a brilliant size for a family, even had a table and.chairs for the grand daughters to sit and drawn. It was lovely to see such a good amount of teabags and. Coffee and sugar in the room,that makes a lovely change, we do like our cups of tea, we had a continental breakfast due to the kids probably wasting a fry up, but there was plenty of choice we were very happy with the whole experience, would definitely recommend to friends and family, very friendly, spotless clean, and food excellent.

As always friendly staff, clean pleasant room, ideal for a small family. A quiet ideal location to visit the famous Gretna Green and surrounding area. Not too far if wishing to visit Carlisle or Dumfries and Galloway. Good value for money and more importantly a pleasant place to stay. Would recommend to friends.

A last-minute booking after searching for an overnight stop on a long journey, we were relieved to find Hunter's Lodge had an ideal 'triple' room available for myself, my husband, and our teenage daughter. Arriving late, it was a welcoming check-in, and our rooms were well set-up and very comfortable, with a homely and traditional feel but with all mod cons.Would definitely recommend and happily return!

Unfortunately, I had planned to stay only one night, but I highly recommend it for a a week as the directory gives you things to seeand drives in the whole area.The food is great especially if you like pasta cooked like in Italy (and an affogato😉)

I regularly work in Carlisle and have stayed at many hotels in the Gretna area. This is my new favourite it has everything you need, great food and nice clean rooms I really liked that is was very quiet at night. Breakfast starting time is a little late for me but you do get a really nice coffee machine in the room. I'll definitely be back.

I arrived in the pouring rain to a warm welcome from Linda Dodd.The room was clean and spacious as was the bath room. Dinner was good as was the service. I left first thing the next morning and I would certainly recommend Hunters Lodge Hotel. I left in the sunshine but soon the rain started and I realised I had left ny jacket in the room. I had a long journey home but almost as soon as I got in I had a phone call from Linda to tell me she had found it. I sent her a pre-paid label, she put in the the bag and it's now on its way back. Thank you Linda.

1st stay at Hunters Lodge,the bedroom etc was super clean. We had a meal there in the evening which was very nice. And breakfast was also good.

Very pleased with the room, we were breaking our journey up north, staff were very pleasant.

I cannot fault our stay at Hunters Lodge Hotel in any way. I booked a room through their website and added a note about requiring a ground floor room due to my husband’s mobility issues. I was emailed immediately to let me know that my original booking was unfortunately a 1st floor room but was advised that this could be easily changed. Everything was amended swiftly. We received regular emails reminding us to book an evening meal if required and the need to have checked in by 9.30pm (no night porter). On the day of check in we were greeted warmly and advised we could order breakfast up until last orders. Our room was easily accessible and we were able to park right outside it. It was a spacious room (which easily accommodated wheelchair use), had a lovely, comfortable bed and tea/coffee facilities. It was quiet and private. The guest folder was informative and we’re glad that we detoured the next day to visit the Devil’s Porridge Museum (which was recommended in the folder). Check out was also easy and straightforward. Thank you for a great experience.

Stayed here quite a few times now. Linda and Gary are excellent hosts. It's a lovely place and the food is excellent too. Would definitely recommend and we'll definitely be back.

We stayed at Hunters Lodge Hotel for 2 nights in a nice ground floor room, with car parking right outside the door. We dined in the restaurant both nights and though the menu is not extensive, what we had was very good. We hope to return in the near future.

Great stay, the rooms are a good size with plenty of space and are spotless, the beds are really comfy which meant we got a good night's sleep ,the meals are really good and the breakfast was tasty and big enough to keep me going most of the day. Linda makes you feel welcome from when you enter till you leave, and nothing is any bother to her. You can see Linda and Gary put a lot of hard work into the business , we will definitely be back.

We stayed here twice, either side of the Easter weekend on our way to and from visiting family in the north of Scotland. The hotel was a lovely relaxing place to stay after a long drive. Stayed here on four occasions , the rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable which means a good night sleep. We have had meals which were very good and the breakfast has plenty on the plate for big eaters and is well cooked and tasty . The directions and instructions for check in were clear, the room was adorable and had everything we needed but what really made the visit was our host.We had trouble with our hire car and Linda went above and beyond to help us try to sort it out and was flexible with our schedule.We hope to return another time and will definitely be staying with Linda at Hunters Lodge!

Great little hotel in Gretna; close to the wedding venue, it that's what you need. I used it as a stopping off point en route to the Scottish Highlands.Very welcoming staff; comfortable family room to stay it. The family room we had was pretty much two adjoining rooms, with a door between, very comfortable, with the en suite facilities shared between the two rooms.Evening meal was very good, but the hotel advises you to book a table in advance. This restaurant gets quite busy, so would advise you do book in advance. Hunters Ragu Pasta is a popular menu item and this is highly recommended. Very good food in my opinion.Breakfast wasn't included in our booking but can be added on arrival. Good choice of cereals and juices, and breakfast items cooked freshly.

I needed an hotel for an overnight stop on my way back down from Dundee, and Hunters Lodge fitted the bill.The Owners, the food and accommodation were lovely.

Stayed here for 2 nights recently. My room was clean and comfortable with everything you needed. The owner is very welcoming and as I'm on crutches made a point of helping with my luggage etc. Restaurant had a good selection of reasonably priced dishes. All good! I'd certainly stay here again. It's a handy stop off point if you are traveling up to other parts of Scotland.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet being set back from the road and any outside noise.We booked an evening meal which was very enjoyable and affordable, we didn't have breakfast. Stayed here for a couple of nights on my way down to Kent, and then when I came back again. I had a different room each time, and both were very comfy. Tea/coffee making facilities, and biscuits were in the room. Lots of free parking available too.

we were met straight away by a very pleasant lady who gave us a full run down. The room where we were staying was a large family room and all the beds were very comfortable. We didnt have breakfast here as last orders was 9 for breakfast which was a bit to early if it was 10 then we would probably of had breakfast. overall value for money and an excellent stay would stay again thankyou

Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the road (which was quiet) very comfortable with everything that we needed.The shower room was small, but clean and tidy with nice towels. What a lovely place,staff are so friendly and polite. It is a little dated and could do with some modern touches, The full breakfast are delicious,the portion size is just right it is served with a pot of fresh coffee. We stayed for our nephew wedding as it is only minutes away from the old blacksmith shop.

Booked at the last minute due to initial stay elsewhere being uninhabitable (not in Gretna)! Arrived early, and lady offered to call us as soon as room was ready (which she did). Nice little hotel, very friendly.Nice wee bar, beer garden. We were in one of the chalets and it was great. Definitely recommend and if we’re back in the area, definitely stay again.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Hunters Lodge. We were a family of 7 over 3 generations staying in 2 family rooms which were perfect for us, very clean and comfortable. Linda made us welcome on our arrival and continued to look after us throughout our stay. We had an issue with our shower but it was promptly dealt with.Breakfast was well cooked and delicious! There was plenty of choice from which you ordered the night before.We didn't have an evening meal there but we may have missed a treat as they certainly smelt lush! Would not hesitate to stay at Hunters Lodge again.

We had a fantastic stay at the Hunters Lodge Hotel. We used Gretna as a base to do some sightseeing and of course shopping. The hosts were absolutely lovely and couldn't have been more helpful when it came to seeing the sights. Beds were also super comfy and food was really really good. I thought the evening meal portions were a bit on the small side, but this left room for dessert! 10/10 would recommend.

It was a joy to return to the warm friendly atmosphere of Hunters Lodge. The hospitality is wonderful and, once again we enjoyed Garry's exquisite cooking. It is a hotel to which we will keep returning.

Clean good value comfortable for a one night stay. BFast was great wished Id eaten here the evening before as the pub down the road was a bit rough

Hello. We have to say how wonderful are stay was at the Hunters lodge hotel ,This is a hotel we visit we stay at when we travel to Gretna and the surrounding area. There is always a friendly greeting on arrival along with a chat that always mentions useful information about the area etc. Our room was very comfortable ,warm and a great en-suite. Our evening meal turned out to be one of the best meals we have had for a long while , the beef we had was first class ! clearly a lot of care and skill went into the preparation. After a great nights sleep we had the pleasure of a great breakfast , before leaving .

We have been staying at Hunters Lodge for over two years now and we allways have a very warm welcome from Linda & Gary. The hotel is very homely and all the rooms we have stayed in are clean & comfortable. We allways enjoy the food, which is home cooked, breakfast is excellent as are the evening meals & of course a "G & T" & wee dram (or two) to finish.For our latest stay of 17th - 20th July there was hand sanitiser & wipes in the room and at various positions around the hotel making this very "Covid Friendly". We are looking forward to returning in September.Caole & malcolm

We stayed the first night lockdown ended, pre booked for our 25th wedding anniversary, returning to where we were married. Excellent service prior to our stay and so well looked after when there too.We were very much reassured with extra health and safety measures to address COVID concerns and Linda went over and above to make sure we were comfortable and had a wonderful time. Thanks for looking after us all those years later!

Stayed overnight following shopping at Gretna outlet. 7 minute walk. Owners very friendly. Room very clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities. Would recommend and stay again

We are a couple , who like so many over the years , married at Gretna Green.As a result of this we have a deep fondness to Gretna and the place where we got married. As Valentines day approached we decided to return to the Hunter.s Lodge for a romantic meal . The staff as always were friendly , helpful and informative . The food is first class and our room with en suite , all excellent ,very comfortable . Plenty of car parking and located in a great locationie close to all the local facility's

Our first visit to this hotel and we were met with a friendly warm welcome, our room for three adults was actually a single & double connecting rooms so great for us. Only issue was the pressure and temperature of shower but apart from that clean comfortable rooms, great value for money and lovely breakfast. Good location for Gretna Gateway and Carlisleonly a short journey away.

We didn't check in till late but we had an message from Hunters Lodge informing us of last check in time which was very polite and helpful. The lady who i am assuming was the owner was absolutely lovely and very welcoming.The room was lovely and bed comfortable .Excellent value for money,will definitely stay here again .

Having tried many times to contact booking.com without success as they had not given us a PIN number we brought our visit forward one night.We were treated very well and we booked a twin room.Everything was excellent,staff,room and food.Would certainly stay with you again.

Superb,little,hotel in a perfect location. Upon arrival the owner/receptionist/hostess, upgraded us to a larger room.we had 3 rooms for 5 adults.all rooms were a good size with all that we needed in them. The breakfast was amazing ,esp the haggis balls. This hotel was a perfect place for the registry office,shops and bars. Its such a relaxed atmosphere.We definitely recomend staying here.

After a drive that took 2 hours longer than expected it was lovely to be welcomed at the hotel. It was very cosy and friendly and even though they had stopped serving meals they kindly made us food as we had been stuck for so long in traffic. Very comfortable rooms and bed, so a great nights sleep. Linda was very helpful and I think this is an ideal hotel for touring around the borders. I would definitely stay again when back in the area.

We had a very relaxing overnight stay at Hunters Lodge. Our room was very clean light and spacious with everything we required. Comfortable beds with white cotton bedding.Our continental breakfast was ideal and our thoughtful host made us feel as if nothing was too much trouble.A delightful privately owned hotel with old world charm, which is well worth a visit whether as a single night stopover or a more extended stay to enjoy the surrounding area which offers border life adventures.We will certainly be returning.

We were so pleased with our stay here. The room was modern with a cool highland cow theme and the bathroom was spacious with a large bath. Our room was accessible directly from the car park which was useful for us and gave us privacy. The staff were attentive and made sure we had enough teabags etc.The breakfast was a lovely fry up with a Scottish style which was really nice. There were also lovely croissants and juice to help ourselves to. Breakfast was between 8-9 which is really nice as it’s not too early. The owner was really lovely and offered us advice if we needed it.I would recommend this to anyone it’s very reasonable.

Perfect stay in this lovely, clean B&B. Friendly welcome and fab evening meal. The breakfast was amazing!!! Very central too. Only stayed 1 night but would have loved to have stayed longer.

We had a great overnight stay here, about a mile from the historic Blacksmith Shop. The beds were very comfortable. Even with 3 beds (1 king, 2 twins) the room felt spacious.We ordered the grab-n-go breakfasts which were simple, but delivered right to our room. The owners were wonderful and very kind.

We stayed overnight on route to Northern Ireland and this hotel provided everything we needed.From the moment we walked through the door and were greeted with a warm welcome to the point where we checked out.

Stayed at Hunters Lodge overnight en route to Manchester from Inverness.Very comfortable and clean.We didn't eat there this time as we had an early start in the morning but have eaten there in the past - excellent.Will book in when next visiting the south.

Whilst touring Scotland in our van we stumbled across this little gem. What used to be an ex officers mess was now a warm welcoming hotel. We had been drenched for couple of nights we thought sod it we have a hotel for the night. We met Linda the hostess a bubbly character. She made us feel welcome straight away. The rooms are large with an equally large ensuite. Both spacious. We did find the bed too hard for our liking but that's our issue not the hotels. The food was tasty and plentiful, and reasonably priced. The bar also reasonably priced. Though our our short stay Linda and her team worked not stop to make us feel comfortable. Her local knowledge outside of the standard weddings and forge was interesting and her knowledge of local points of interest is never ending. A great place to stay and will hopefully return for another visit

Only stayed one night as we were heading north, but made to feel really welcome. Room was spotless. Food was very good, we had a bar meal in the evening and a particularly good breakfast. Glad we chose this instead of one of the hotels on the M6.

7 of us came to stay at the hotel, we got married at the blacksmith,not one of us have a bad word to say, accommodation was perfect the family who run the hotel were lovely and welcoming.We would highly recommend Hunters lodge to others with children.

Great wee hotel to stop off in Gretna for shopping and food was nice.

Warm, friendly and very helpful staff. The twin room was comfortable, clean and a good size for two. A very restful night.Good information on facilities that were available if needed.Not far to wall to the Gretna Outlet and the Blacksmith's Forge.Can't comment on breakfast because we had to leave early and didn't have any.

Lovely Hotel, plenty of character. Building was formerly an Officers Mess.Nice room (2) comfy bed, (two singles) lovely big TV, nice bathroom with shower. Sliding door between bathroom and bedroom did not close fully, but I was travelling solo, so it was not a problem. Nice informal eating area. Lovely smoked haddock fishcake, was delicious and filling. Lovely selection of Gins. Great freshly cooked breakfast in the morning, with additional choices of fruit, croissants and yogurts. Welcoming and hard working hostess. A lovely little Hotel,plenty of parking. Great value for money. Easy access to main A75 route. Highly recommended.

Would definitely visit again if I’m in that neck of the woods. The proprietress Linda was very welcoming and friendly, made my family feel at home. We were glad we had the full breakfast in the morning as that kept us going most of the day. Accommodation was clean, the pint of Carling was refreshing. Definitely plan a stay if your passing.

Had to laugh. Everyone else in the Birthday party stayed in the big expensive lovely looking Hotel a mile away. They complained of; Bad sleep because rooms like saunas, broken toilets, green mold all around the silicon bath seal and, apparently, the breakfast sausages where appalling.( Not to mention the price of ale...)They should have stayed at The Hunters.Lovely room. Clean, very roomy, perfect temperature for sleep in the big comfy bed. Friendly staff and absolutely no mold anywhere to be seen.Cant knock that at less than half the price all our friends payed. The second night I needed a hot bath after my days exploits and opted for the double room annexe. The room was spacious and had all I required for a relaxing evening. Enjoyed excellent fish and chips at the nearby takeaway, which was recommended to me at the hotel. The hotel is well positioned for a day out to the Borders, Cumbria, Dumfries & Galloway etc.

This was a late booking in the evening and we didn't know what to expect.When we arrived we were met by the owner who was very chatty and welcoming. The room was clean, warm and had coffee and tea making facilities. The bed was nice and firm and we had a great nights sleep. Linda brought us extra milk and coffee as were leaving early in the morning and were unfortunately unable to make breakfast.Great value, we will be using Hunters Lodge again.Thanks

A lovely warm welcome at reception by the owner. Put us at our ease and led us to a very pleasant room.We had freshly made pizza for supper, which was first class.Breakfast the following morning was also excellent. We'll be back

Hi there I would like to say that I had two stops at this hotel in ten days. The rooms were clean tidy and very spacious. We really liked the highland coo designed pictures and throws. We had a number of dogs with us and they very helpfull with walks and advice. They also came and had a fuss with the dogs. Had evening meal and breakfast on both visits all served with a happy attitude. Meals all very good.Overall a very pleasent stay. Would recommend highly for stay. In fact allready have.Andy Rose.

Easy to find hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, large clean room with nice decor, usual features, free WiFi, tv,drink making, towels and toiletries. We arrived after last food orders but they were very happy to make a meal for us, we also had a drink and retired to our bedroom, this being nice and quiet and very comfortable.
